Hi, I’m Leyla - the face behind LilyFête, a floral design and creative agency based in Brooklyn. I moved to New York over 13 years ago in search of a creative outlet in fashion and spent more than a decade working as a Merchandiser and Product Developer before deciding to pivot.

Ever wonder why Yalda is also called Chelleh? 🤔🌙

It’s because Yalda kicks off the first 40 days of winter — Chelleh — the coldest stretch of the season.
(“Chehel” in Persian means forty!)

So on the longest night of the year, Iranians gather with poetry, pomegranates, watermelon, persimmons, and lots of cozy vibes to welcome this new season with light and love.

Yalda is basically our way of saying:
“Winter is here… but we’re going to start it together.” ♥️❄️

تا حالا فکر کردی چرا یلدا را «چِلّه» هم می‌گن؟ 🤔🌙

چون یلدا آغازِ چهل روزِ اولِ زمستان است — چِلّه — سردترین بخش این فصل كه روز چهلمه.

برای همین در طولانی‌ترین شب سال، ایرانی‌ها با شعر، انار، هندوانه، خرمالو و کلی حال‌و‌هوای گرم کنار هم جمع می‌شوند تا این فصل تازه را با نور و محبت آغاز كنن.

یلدا در واقع یک پیام دارد:

The patterns are so intricate and beautiful that I felt inspired to bring them into jewelry, giving this traditional art form a new life on a smaller, wearable scale. My mission is to create jewelry that’s more than just an accessory—it’s a piece of identity. I want you to wear something that connects you to a profound culture
and history. I want the piece you are wearing to take you back in time, to mystical bazaars and Shiraz alleys filled with the fragrance of orange blossom.

For this event, my goal is to connect with art lovers in the U.S., share the story behind my work, and hopefully expand my reach to new friends and supporters who appreciate both the tradition and the fresh perspective I bring to it.

The community energy that day was absolutely electric — it was deeply moving to see so many Iranian Americans come together in NYC to celebrate our shared heritage.

One of my favorite things about making both books and art is engaging directly with readers, and I couldn’t be more delighted to return for the Yalda Market in December. In addition to my books, I will also have a limited number of signed archival prints available.

Hi – I’m Shayda, the founder of Ziba. We are a modern, clean skincare line rooted in ancient Persian traditions.

In Persian, “Ziba” means beautiful, and we honor the time-honored skincare rituals passed down through generations of Persian women in my family. Growing up, my grandmother taught me that real beauty and strength come from within. She shared her knowledge of treasured ingredients like saffron and rose water and the profound benefits they can have for your skin and health. This wisdom, combined with my professional experience in dermatology and cosmetics, inspired me to create Ziba.

With a team of cosmetic chemists, an esthetician, and a dermatologist, I’ve crafted formulations that blend these treasured Persian ingredients—largely unknown in today’s skincare—with scientific innovation. Ziba honors the beauty rituals of generations past while meeting the advances of today.

Hi – I’m Shayda, the founder of Ziba. We are a modern, clean skincare line rooted in ancient Persian traditions.

In Persian, “Ziba” means beautiful, and we honor the time-honored skincare rituals passed down through generations of Persian women in my family. Growing up, my grandmother taught me that real beauty and strength come from within. She shared her knowledge of treasured ingredients like saffron and rose water and the profound benefits they can have for your skin and health. This wisdom, combined with my professional experience in dermatology and cosmetics, inspired me to create Ziba.

With a team of cosmetic chemists, an esthetician, and a dermatologist, I’ve crafted formulations that blend these treasured Persian ingredients—largely unknown in today’s skincare—with scientific innovation. Ziba honors the beauty rituals of generations past while meeting the advances of today.

I worked on numerous documentaries, many of which focused on Iranian cinema. Over time, my love for color and creation drew me beyond the screen, first into digital drawing and then into painting on various media.

My work sits at the meeting point of art and design, where color and form tell quiet stories. What began as a painting naturally grew into Halehj Collection, a space where my art moves into daily life, printed on scarves, bags, and T-shirts, shaped into jewelry, and hand-painted linen pieces inspired by whimsical shapes.
Each piece carries a sense of play and balance, a whisper of movement and joy, art meant not just to be seen, but to be lived in.

My name is Shirin Nikoukari, an artist inspired by the beauty of Iranian heritage, and painting is my passion. Through my work, I blend traditional Iranian art with a modern twist. My goal is to evoke nostalgia and emotions rooted in our shared culture.

Each piece begins with collaging an imagery of traditional elements such as: tiles from Shiraz or Isfahan, miniature arts, kilims, or calligraphy of beloved Persian poems. I then paint over these layers, playing with patterns and color to create a more contemporary vibe.

At the heart my works sits the pomegranate, a symbol of hope and beauty; a GOLDEN pomegranate, to bring light, glimmer and a bit of magic into everyday life.
I am very excited to be part of this event. I want people to feel connected—to their past and to the stories that shaped them. I hope my art awakes a sense of cultural pride and appreciation and brings joy to homes.

Hi! I’m Susan. My love for baking started in childhood, growing up in a Turk Azerbaijani family where sweets were part of every celebration. I trained professionally as a teen — even learning French techniques — and blending them with Iranian traditions became my signature.

After moving to the U.S. in 2017, I began baking from home, and thanks to the amazing support of our community, I soon opened my own bakery in New Jersey — truly a dream come true.

I’m so excited to join the Holiday Yalda Market this year and bring a little sweetness to your Yalda table!
